September Update from our Hebron PTSA President:

Welcome to the new school year - and what a year this will be! Whether your child is a freshman, transitioning to high school in our HHS9 center, a sophomore moving up to HHS main campus, a junior facing the all-important year, or striding in as seniors; this year will be a memorable year for all! Our administrators have addressed the challenges the pandemic brought on and adapted the typical education process in many ways. From 2 campuses we now have 6 educational paths with the reality that everything can and likely will change as we move through the year.
The HHS PTSA is aware of the increased stresses our parents and teachers are facing. Funds raised by the PTSA are used to provide support to our parents, teachers, students and administration.

Parents can expect to received monthly campus newsletters, information on how to serve as campus volunteers, access to parent education on issues relating to teen health, college planning, and parenting issues from social habits to healthy lifestyles and more.
Teachers, administrators, and staff receive support through volunteer efforts, appreciation events and grants through HHS PTSA or TXPTA.
Students will have opportunities to be involved and support PTSA and HHS throughout the year. Graduating seniors may apply for the PTSA funded LEF scholarships.
By joining HHS PTSA you are also becoming a member of the larger Texas PTA (TXPTA) and the national PTA. These organizations are some of the largest advocates for public education in our nation. Your membership gives leverage to these organizations as they appear before state and national government to argue not only for educational standards, but also for safety and health in our schools.
We are working to find new and innovative ways to continue to support our students and schools during this time. Our meetings will be virtual through Zoom through the end of 2020. Staff treats and meals will be professionally boxed treats rather than buffet style spreads donated by families. Some fundraising efforts need to be rethought and revised – the beloved cookie sales after school will be suspended during the pandemic. Spirit wear is being offered online with delivery or periodic pickup dates offered. Parent resources will be promoted on our website and social media venues.
Please join us in supporting our schools this year – renew your and your family membership today. Consider making a donation to support our activities. Purchase some Hebron Spirit Wear. Send your contact information to our volunteer database so you will receive notice of opportunities to support the school – directly or virtually – throughout the year.
We look forward to the day when we can all gather together again, but in the meantime, know that we are still here, helping to support our Hawk family SOAR!

Respectfully, Rita Allo HHS PTSA President
